Bowraville Amateur Photography Competition
To celebrate 150 years of Bowra town (Bowraville) the Bowraville Technology Centre is looking for original photographs of Bowraville and surrounds. Any subject is fine as long as you believe it subscribes to our theme "to Bowraville with love'. Winners will be decided by popular choice.
Dates: Current – 4pm 31 October – Photographic entries accepted.
3 November – 14 November - Voting (in person at Bowraville Tech Centre)
1 vote per eligible voter per competition (adults and Kids comps)
** voters must supply name and identification if required and cast only 2 votes in total
Two separate competitions will be held Adults – $10 per entry
Children (under 17) $5 per entry
Adult Competition prizes – Winner $250
2 X Runner Up $50
Children's Competition prizes - Winner $150
3 x Runners Up $50 each
Winning entries will be displayed on the home page of Bowraville’s Community Website – bowraville.nsw.au
To enter: Visit the Bowraville Technology Centre in Bowraville to complete an entry form and pay. Then, send your original photograph(s) in an email which includes your name, receipt number, and phone number to photocomp@bctc.com.au
Attach your photo files noting the size and acceptable formats.
Entries will be displayed anonymously online at bowraville.nsw.au from 4 November 2025 to 14 November, 2025 although no voting can be done except in person at the Bowraville Technology Centre.
Winners will be decided by popular choice - all who present in person to the Bowraville Technology Centre are entitled to 2 votes (1 for adults and 1 for children's competition). Pick up your voting forms as well as cast your vote at the Bowraville Technology Centre from November 3 – 14, where a ballot box will be situated. It will be possible to access a computer to see the entries at the Centre.
Winners will be announced at the Back to Bowra Festival 14-15 November 2025 - Time TBA.
All proceeds will go towards maintenance and upkeep of Bowraville’s Community Website - bowraville.nsw.au
TERMS and CONDITIONS
The Following Rules Apply to All Images in both Categories
- Entrants must agree for Bowraville’s Community Website bowraville.nsw.com (managed by the Bowraville Technology Centre) to display their photograph(s) on pages of this community-run site.
- Image Format. Image Files in Jpeg or Png format must be supplied and resolution no less than 500kB and no more than 5Mb.
- Original Work. All entries must be entirely the original photographic work of the entrant
- Multiple Entries. You may enter as many photographs as you like.
- Photographic Origin. All images entered, including individual elements used to make up an entry, must be 100% photographic in origin. No text graphics, AI or computer-generated images or graphics are allowed although digital enhancement is permitted. If requested, you must supply raw files of all elements used in an entry.
- Suitable for Public Display. Images must not break the law or violate rights including copyright, privacy, or moral rights. Images that are deemed unsuitable for public display as part of Bowraville’s 150th year celebrations will not be allowed to enter.
- Consent and Indemnification. Entrants are responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions and indemnifying the competition and its organisers against any third-party claims related to judging, public display, or use of their work. If an image includes a person, consent must be obtained from the subject, their guardian for submission and public or online display. If an image depicts children who are identifiable, proof of consent may be required, or the entry may be disqualified.
- Self-Identification. Images must not contain any identifying information. Examples of self-identification include copyright text, watermarks, QR codes, and URLs.
- Drone photography. Drone photography is permitted but must comply with legal, privacy and airspace regulations - for example, capturing drone images above a crowd, or complying with Australian National Park restrictions on drone usage.
Disqualification
An entry may be disqualified, at our discretion, if any of the following take place:
- An entry is purchased but no image is submitted
- An entry does not have an image conforming to the size and format requirements
- An entry breaks any of the rules
- The entrant acts in a manner unbecoming an entrant, including disrespectful, harassing or abusive behaviour towards anyone associated with the competition.
No refunds will be given for disqualified entries.
